Think About It Thursday - Do you ever wonder ...

... where socks disappear to in the laundry?

This is a pile of socks that I have accumulated over a couple of years.

When I have a mismatched sock, I lay it on top of the dryer. If, after a couple of weeks of washes a mate doesn't appear, I toss it in a basket that I have on a shelf above the washer.

After ignoring it for far too long, I decided today to try and match up any pairs that may have made it into the basket. Whatever is left -- well, I'm not sure. I have a hard time throwing away anything that may have a future use. So we'll see.

I'll report my results to you tomorrow.

How do you deal with your mismatched socks? Any ideas for the lonely mates?

  1. Well, you can always have fun making a family of sock puppets............or you could put rice in it and sew the top shut, then mist with water and put in the microwave for a minute and it's a heading pad (or freezer for cold pack) ..........or you can throw a bar of soap in it for the shower.........or keep your marble collection in one..........or keep nuts and bolts that go to a bed that is disassembled, then tie the sock onto the bed so they aren't separated...........or fill with lavender and heat for an eye thingee........or you could just throw them out (something I seldom do. Why toss when you can recycle?)

  2. Hey, thanks for the suggestions! I like the hot/cold pack idea and the nuts/bolts ideas. Like you, I can't bear to throw them away. You never know when the partner will appear or if you can find a good way to repurpose them!
